Headley in ICU after attack by prison inmates
David Coleman Headley, a Pakistani American serving 35 years in a federal jail in Chicago for his role in plotting the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, is reportedly fighting for life in a hospital ICU after being attacked by two prison inmates. It was reported by an Indian TV channel, though officials have not confirmed it.
Headley is under observation in the critical care unit at North Evanston Hospital.
Originally named Daood Sayed Gilani, Headley was born in Washington, DC, to Sayed Salim Gilani, a Pakistani diplomat and broadcaster. He got involved in trafficking drugs and was caught by the US Drug Enforcement Administration, but then began working for the agency as an informant.
