Tokyo, Aug 22 : Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower on Wednesday as investors took a wait-and-see approach ahead of US-China trade related talks and the results of the US Federal Reserve's annual symposium later this week.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 46.51 points, or 0.21 per cent, from Tuesday to 22,173.22, Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 0.60 points, or 0.04 per cent, at 1,684.82.
Information and communication, pulp and paper, and air transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
