AAPI Condemns Gun Violence, Supports AMA's Stance
“We at AAPI, the largest ethnic medical organization in the United States, urge call for action by policy makers to make common-sense reforms, supported by the American public to protect innocent lives,” Dr. Suresh Reddy, President of American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) said.
American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) condemns the tragic gun violence that took dozens of lives in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio past weekend, Dr. Reddy said in a statement issued here. “As physicians, we see these victims in the hospitals and care for them. Gun violence is a preventable health hazard. Many innocent lives are lost every year for no reason.”
AAPI stands with American Medical Association’s (AMA) recommendations such as research, background checks, and gun buy-back programs, Dr. Reddy added.
AAPI, an umbrella organization representing the interests of the nearly 100,000 Physicians of Indian Origin in the United States, has nearly 90 local chapters, specialty societies and alumni organizations, with over 37 years of history of dedicated services to millions of Americans in all states of the United States.
