Sehwag to build up excitement for B'desh T20I series
Mumbai, Oct 23
Sports broadcaster Star Sports has roped in legendary cricketer Virender Sehwag to build up anticipation and excitement around the upcoming India-Bangladesh T20I series.
In the second leg of the campaign, Sehwag is seen praying for India to win, and promises to quit tweeting, if his prayers are answered.
This campaign highlights the impact of the reactions of the Bangladeshi fans, who haven't held back in notoriously rejoicing over their team's victories across social media platforms. Although Bangladesh has never won a T20 match against India, previous ODI wins against India have witnessed rather overwhelming reactions from the Bangladeshi fans, and a first ever win in the upcoming series would definitely result in some sparks flying over social media.
With over 20 million followers on Twitter, Sehwag is a popular sports personality who is known for his quirky and witty tweets.
In the film, Sehwag acknowledges that winning and losing is part of the game, but his heartfelt plea is more to save himself from reactions of enthusiastic Bangladeshi fans, which echoes the sentiments of cricket fans in India.
With the aim to cater to fans of all ages, the campaign creates an exciting cricketing universe using a combination of animation and live action to bring alive the fan banter. The Bangladesh tour of India consisting of three T20Is and two Tests begins on November 3 and will be broadcast on the Star Sports Network and Hotstar in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Bangla.
