NIA arrests mastermind of human trafficking gang
New Delhi, Dec 13
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) said on Friday that it has arrested the mastermind of a human trafficking gang from West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.
An NIA spokesperson said that Ruhul Amin Dhali (52), who is one of the main accused and conspirators in the human trafficking case, was arrested on Thursday from North 24 Parganas district.
The official said that the agency recovered one Samsung Galaxy mobile handset, nine SIM cards, including four Bangladeshi SIMs, two memory cards, 10,000 Bangladeshi taka, one diary containing mobile numbers and few identity cards from his possession.
The official said that Dhali was produced before the CJM Court in Basirhat for obtaining transit remand. He will be next produced before the NIA Special Court in Hyderabad.
The NIA took over the probe from the Chatrinaka Police Station in Hyderabad. The official said the case relates to exploitation and immoral trafficking of persons from West Bengal and Bangladesh to various cities in India, including Hyderabad.
"The accused is involved in running of brothels in Hyderabad and other places. Our investigation has revealed that Dhali was regularly receiving money from traffickers located in different parts of the country for facilitating illegal border crossing and trafficking of Bangladeshi persons," the official said.
The NIA had earlier arrested three accused, namely Mohammad Yousuf Khan, his wife Bithi Begum and Sojib, all residents of North 24 Parganas district, from a brothel in Hyderabad. During probe, it was revealed that they were habitual offenders in immoral trafficking.
