Ankur Prakash promoted to Global Sales & Commercial Manager for Well Construction at one of the world’s largest oilfield services companies
HOUSTON, TX—February 15, 2021—Ankur Prakash, a native of Lucknow, India, was promoted to Global Sales and Commercial Manager at one of the world’s largest oilfield services companies. Mr. Prakash has nearly two decades of experience in the oil and gas (O&G) industry, rising from engineering and service quality positions in Indonesia to senior management positions for operations, projects, and sales in India, West Africa, and the United States. As a senior-level executive leader, in one of his previous roles, he was responsible for the company’s commercial response to drilling and logging while drilling tenders valued collectively at $7 billion in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, and was most recently in charge of global sales and commercial function for the Drilling and Measurements (D&M) service line. In his new role he leads worldwide sales and commercial function for the D&M and Bits and Drilling Tools (BDT) service lines.
Mr. Prakash specializes in creating and maintaining synergy between service lines, developing and implementing new business ventures and performance models, and managing commercial responses for the global oil and gas industry. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated significant expertise in sales management, operations management, project management, and directional drilling with award-winning and transformative initiatives that drove process improvement and substantially grew market share and revenue, often doubling annual earnings. His achievements include developing new contractual models that reduced the cost of drilling operations in the U.S. and worldwide, launching the first operations support center in Jakarta, Indonesia, and overseeing a new state-of-the-art maintenance facility in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.
Among his many accomplishments, Mr. Prakash earned a U.S. Patent for “Applications based on fluid properties measured downhole†and has published numerous industry guidelines for D&M. In addition to earning a gold medal in his company’s most prestigious global competition, in 2015 his team was awarded the highest recognition in a global supplier program sponsored by one of the world’s top-ranked independent Exploration and Production (E&P) companies.
Mr. Prakash received a Bachelor of Technology degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India, where he additionally earned a degree in engineering management. He has completed advanced professional trainings in specialized E&P topics, as well as sales and people management and business seminars.
