One dead in Tamil Nadu firecracker blast
Chennai, May 4
A worker has lost his life in a blast at a firecracker unit at Kathalampatti in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district, officials said on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Solai Vignesh (26) of Sundarakudumbanpatti village.
Ammapatti police in Virudhunagar district have registered a case. The unit is owned by Peiyakaruppan and has a license from the district revenue authorities.
Virudhunagar district police told IANS that the blast occurred when Vignesh was mixing chemicals required for making crackers in a shed. The blast occurred due to friction.
He was killed on the spot. The entire shed was destroyed in the blast.
Fire and Rescue personnel rushed to the spot and took the deceased to Sattur Government hospital for post-mortem.
