Police arrested Indian American 32-year-old Melvin Thomas over the death of his father Manuel Thomas (61) in Paramus, Bergen County.

New Jersey police have arrested 32-year-old Melvin Thomas over the death of his father Manuel Thomas (61) at their residence in 693 Bruce Drive, Paramus, Bergen County.

Manuel Thomas was found dead in his basement with several stab wounds after police arrived on a call made by Melvin himself. It is understood that the murder took place on Valentines Day and the body was rotting. 

Melvin Thomas is police custody and is considered as a suspect. Apart from murder, he has also been charged with second-degree desecration of human remains, second-degree hindering and two possession of a weapon charges, prosecutors said.
