The center is demanding the full amount spent on airlifting, including the costs incurred during the 2018 floods, to be reimbursed. The demand is to reimburse ₹132.62 crore spent over 18 years from 2006 to 2024. It was in October of this year that V. Venu, who was the Chief Secretary, received a letter from the Ministry of Defence. The amount spent on airlifting during the flood that struck Kerala in August 2018 is clearly stated in the records.
