In Munnar, a running car was trampled and overturned by a wild elephant. The incident took place near Signal Point on the Munnar-Devikulam road. The elephant attacked an Innova car carrying foreign tourists, flipping it over. The vehicle was left upside down on the road.
The elephant also trampled and killed a cow in the area. Four tourists from Liverpool were inside the car, but they did not suffer any major injuries. Locals nearby lifted the car and rescued the passengers.
The Rapid Response Team (RRT) arrived and drove the elephant away. However, forest officials are unsure where the elephant came from. As there is a possibility of further attacks, authorities have intensified surveillance in the area.
