Indian Student at Georgetown Arrested Over Alleged Hamas Ties
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Badar Khan Suri, an Indian doctoral student at Georgetown University, for allegedly spreading Hamas propaganda and promoting antisemitism online.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claims Suri has ties to a senior Hamas advisor. Citing the Immigration and Nationality Act, Secretary of State Marco Rubio deemed Suri deportable due to his activities posing potential risks to U.S. foreign policy.
Georgetown University stated Suri was lawfully in the U.S. for research and denied knowledge of any illegal actions. Currently detained in Louisiana, Suri awaits a court hearing.
