Nimisha Priya’s Death Penalty to Be Carried Out; Authorities Notified
Nimisha Priya, who is imprisoned in Yemen, is set to face the death penalty. In an audio message, she informed that jail authorities have received the order for execution. The message was sent to Save Nimisha Priya Action Council convener Jayan Idapally. According to the message, the decision to carry out the execution has been made, and the order has reached the prison.
Nimisha Priya mentioned in her message that a lawyer had contacted the prison. The case against her is based on the killing of Yemeni citizen Talal Abdul Mahdi, whom she allegedly murdered in an attempt to escape from his mental and physical abuse. In 2018, a Yemeni trial court sentenced her to death.
