If you love the Tamil language, you should sign in Tamil" – Narendra Modi.

Leaders from Tamil Nadu often send me letters, but none of them sign in Tamil. If you truly love the Tamil language, you should sign in Tamil, said Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister made this remark in Rameswaram. It was after visiting the Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram on the occasion of Ram Navami that he inaugurated the Pamban Bridge, which connects Pamban Island in Ramanathapuram and the pilgrimage site of Rameswaram.

He also flagged off a new train service from Rameswaram to Tambaram. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin did not attend the inauguration ceremony. After the train had passed, the Prime Minister raised the vertical lift span of the bridge. According to a note from the PMO, the new Pamban Bridge in Rameswaram brings together tradition and technology. The bridge was constructed by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited, the engineering arm of Indian Railways, at a cost of ₹535 crore. The new bridge, which is 2.08 kilometers long and six meters above sea level, has been designed with advanced features.
