Mass layoffs at Disney again: Hundreds of employees lose their jobs.
Los Angeles: Disney has laid off hundreds of employees globally. The job cuts affected staff in the film, television, and finance departments as part of a restructuring effort. This move follows the 2023 layoffs of 7,000 employees under CEO Bob Iger’s $5.5 billion cost-cutting plan.
Despite the large-scale layoffs, reports indicate that Disney has achieved strong financial performance. The growth in Disney+ subscribers and box office success of films like Lilo & Stitch were major contributors. However, Disney officials stated that the current layoffs are part of ongoing cost-cutting measures.
