Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller to Host Theravada Buddhist Monks on "Walk for Peace" Across the U.S.
ANNAPOLIS, MD –
On Thursday, February 12, 2026, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller will host nearly two dozen Theravada Buddhist monks in Annapolis, the final destination on their 2,300 mile “Walk for Peace” from Fort Worth, Texas.
The monks, along with several dozen volunteers and a canine companion will arrive in Annapolis at 9 a.m. at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. They will walk to the State House and arrive at approximately 9:45 a.m.
Lt. Gov. Miller, Chair of the Governor's Council on Interfaith Outreach, will lead a collaborative conversation with the monks and the Council before the monks are introduced to each chamber.
The Lt. Gov. will hold media availability with spokespeople for the monks and the Interfaith Council at approximately 10 a.m. in the Governor’s Reception Room.
