Two Wood-Ridge Men Arrested in Bergen County Drug Distribution Investigation

The arrests followed a coordinated investigation led by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under Chief Jeff Angermeyer, in partnership with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) under Special Agent in Charge Michael McCarthy, U.S. Customs and Border Protection under Port Director Tenavel Thomas, and the Wood-Ridge Police Department under Chief Michael O’Donnell.

Officials stated that in January 2026, the HSI Airport Group, working alongside U.S. Customs and Border Protection, intercepted approximately 19 kilograms of dried poppy pods that had been shipped from the Netherlands to the United States. Authorities say the package was addressed to a private residence in Wood-Ridge and was intended for delivery by courier service.

The investigation remains ongoing.
