Eight killed in road accidents in Andhra, Telangana

Eight people were killed in four separate road accidents in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Friday, police said.

One person was killed, and four were injured when a tourist bus from Gujarat rammed into a mini lorry near Dornala in Markapuram district.

The tourist bus with 40 passengers onboard was travelling from Rajkot to Srisailam. The accident occurred when the bus driver lost control after the vehicle suffered a tyre puncture and hit the stationary DCM on the roadside. The mini lorry had broken down, and the driver had stopped it by the roadside.

Police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the government hospital at Dornala.

In another accident in Anakapalli district, three youths were killed when a bike they were riding was hit by a private travel bus at Pothireddypalem junction in Anakapalli district.

According to police, the accident occurred in the early hours of the day when the youth was returning after visiting a local fair in Purushottapuram village.

Two youths died on the spot, while another succumbed at a hospital in Yelamanchili.

The deceased, who used to earn their livelihood by painting, have been identified as I. Govindu (25), Bangaru Nani (24) and Bangaru Durgaprasad (16).

In the third accident in the NTR district, two people were killed, and three others were injured when they were hit by a truck.

According to police, five persons returning from catering work travelled on a bike from Nuzvidu to Tiruvuru. Two of them got down on the Lakshmipuram-Nuzvidu highway. When the bike was standing by the roadside, a truck hit it.

Two of them died on the spot, while three others were injured. The injured were shifted to a hospital, where the condition of one of them is stated to be critical.

The deceased were identified as Nakka Eshwar (16) and Madugu Sunny (17).

Police registered a case and took up an investigation.

In another accident in neighbouring Telangana, two persons were killed, and another was injured.

The accident occurred when a car in which they were travelling rammed into a stationary lorry on Karimnagar-Peddapalli Bypass.
