Bihar Jharkhand Association of Midwest (BJUS) Celebrates a Vibrant Holi Milan Event

415 W. Eighth Street, Hinsdale – The Bihar Jharkhand Association of Midwest (BJUS) hosted a lively and colorful Holi Milan celebration, drawing over 200 community members for a day filled with cultural exuberance and unity.

The program began with a stirring rendition of both the U.S. and Indian national anthems, setting an inspiring tone for the day. This was followed by a one-minute moment of silence in memory of Poornima Jha, former President of BJUS, who passed away a month ago.

The event then unfolded into a rich tapestry of cultural performances by both children and adults, featuring traditional dances and music. A heartwarming diya lighting ceremony symbolized hope and new beginnings, and was graced by the presence of Chief Guest Mrs. Lima Mathew, Consul (Head of Chancery and Community Affairs). The ceremony was meticulously coordinated by the dedicated BJUS core team, ensuring a truly memorable and radiant moment.

A special highlight of the program was a captivating tabla and Kathak jugalbandi performance by Ms. Bindoo Pathak, Founder and Director of Jugalbandi Academy of Tabla and Kathak Dance, along with her talented team. Another standout performance was a vibrant dance tribute to Dharmendra by BJUS members, which became one of the most celebrated acts of the day. Heartfelt appreciation goes out to all the children and adult performers who made the event so special.

Guests enjoyed a delicious spread of authentic Bihari Holi delicacies, including malpua, kathal sabji, dahi vada, and thandai, while a lively DJ kept the festive spirit high throughout the day.

Key highlights included an inspiring speech by Chief Guest Mrs. Lima Mathew, along with thoughtful messages from community leaders Neelam Dwivedi and Ashok Lakshmanan. The program was expertly emceed by BJUS members Rohini Sinha and Pramod Singh, whose engaging presence added to the event’s success.

In a special moment of appreciation, Association President Shikha Kumari thanked all attendees for their participation.
