Dr. Ezhamkulam Samkutty Funeral Services to Be Held on May 16 in Houston
HOUSTON:
Funeral services for Dr. Ezhamkulam Samkutty, who passed away in Louisiana, USA, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Houston, Texas.
A native of Ezhamkulam and well known in Christian circles, Dr. C. Samkutty was the son of late Mr. N. M. Chacko and Mrs. Chinnamma Chacko of Punaloor Vayalil Pulimoottil family. He was 78.
Dr. Ezhamkulam Samkutty was widely respected as a faithful servant of God, preacher, writer, evangelist, educator, and spiritual author. He served as an English Literature Professor at Southern University in Louisiana and dedicated his life to Christian ministry and literature.
His well-known novel “Palam Thettiya Theevandi” sold more than 105,000 copies and received the Best Novel Award in 1995. Through his books, sermons, counseling ministry, and spiritual songs, he inspired generations of believers in both Malayalam and English.
The funeral service and public viewing will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at IPC Hebron Houston, 4660 South Sam Houston Parkway East, Houston, Texas 77048.
The interment service will follow from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at South Park Funeral Home, 1310 N Main St, Pearland, Texas 77581.
He is survived by his wife Pushpa Samkutty; children Ranjith (Houston) and Bindu (Louisiana); daughter-in-law Deepa; grandchildren Justice, Jeremiah, and Chance; and sisters Leelamma Abraham and Sally Soman (Dallas).
Family members, friends, and members of the Christian community are expected to attend the services and pay their final respects.
