Atlanta Software Engineer Thomas Rajan Pioneers AI-Driven Filmmaking with Patriotic Action Short Film ‘Durga: Shadow Strike’

Atlanta, Georgia — In a groundbreaking fusion of technology and storytelling, Thomas Rajan, a software engineer based in Atlanta, has created “Durga: Shadow Strike”, a high-octane short film that showcases the immense potential of advanced Artificial Intelligence and VFX in independent cinema.

The film, available on YouTube, tells the inspiring story of Major Priya Sharma, a fearless Indian Army commando and counter-terrorism specialist. Balancing her duties as a mother with high-stakes missions, Major Sharma undertakes a daring solo operation to neutralize a dreaded terrorist mastermind known as “Shepherd Dog” — the architect behind deadly attacks — in a tense, action-packed sequence set against a sensitive urban location in Kashmir.

What makes the project truly remarkable is its innovative casting and production: the lead character’s face and body are modeled after Subi Babu, a prominent Atlanta-based Instagram influencer, software engineer, and beauty pageant titleholder. Subi Babu brings her powerful screen presence to the role of the unbreakable Major Priya Sharma, embodying strength, resilience, and patriotism.

Rajan, who also collaborated closely with Subi Babu on the project, utilized cutting-edge AI tools combined with sophisticated visual effects to produce the film. From lifelike character rendering to seamless action sequences and cinematic environments, the entire production highlights how AI can dramatically lower costs while delivering professional-grade visuals — without compromising on emotional depth or intensity. The film carries a strong patriotic message: “A strong nation is made of strong women, who fearlessly serve their country,” and was released to coincide with the 150th anniversary celebrations of Vande Mataram.

Speaking about the project, the creators emphasize its goal of inspiring Indian women and showcasing the power of technology in storytelling. The short film blends intense tactical sequences, emotional family moments, and a stirring tribute to the spirit of Indian womanhood and the armed forces.

With just days since its release, “Durga: Shadow Strike” is already drawing attention as an example of the future of filmmaking — where passionate creators equipped with AI can produce compelling narratives that rival traditional big-budget productions.
