Sensex closes 628 points down
A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive
Index (Sensex) provisionally closed Monday's trade down 628 points or
2.13 percent.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock
Exchange (NSE) also closed the day's trade with heavy losses. It was
down 195.45 points or 2.19 percent at 8,742.30 points (provisionally
closed subject to change).
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock
Exchange (BSE), which opened at 29,316.54 points, closed the day's
trade at 28,820.68 points (at 3.30 p.m.), down 628.27 points or 2.13
percent from the previous day's close at 29,448.95 points.
The Sensex had touched a high of 29,321.06 points and a low of 28,806.42 points in the intra-day trade.
