Tennis: Back injury forces Azarenka to withdraw from Madrid Open
Madrid, May 4: Belarusian woman tennis player Victoria Azarenka announced on Wednesday her decision to withdraw from the Madrid Open because of a back injury.
The world No.5 was set to face American Louisa Chirico on Wednesday, who now passes to the quarter-finals by default, reports Efe.
Azarenka, runner-up in Madrid in 2011 and 2012, explained that the pain is in her lower back and she does not know what caused it.
The 26-year-old added that she will undergo medical tests to identify the extent of the injury.
