Congress leader performs 'puja' at ATM
Hyderabad, Nov 22 A Congress leader on Tuesday performed a ‘puja at an ATM in a novel protest over the problems faced by people in the wake of demonetisation of high value currency notes.
Former legislator Sudheer Reddy and his supporters performed various rituals at a non-functioning ATM of Andhra Bank at Kothapet here.
He broke a coconut, lighted a lamp and garlanded the ATM, which had ‘Out of Cash' board hanging around it.
Sudheer Reddy said the central government took a hasty decision to demonetize Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes.
The Congress leader said the government's move to spike the high value notes without making alternate arrangements had caused severe inconvenience to people.
Stating that Rs 2,000 note was of no use to people, he demanded that the government scrap it and immediately make Rs 500 notes available.
