The expositions and teachings on ‘THEOLOGY OF THE BODY, the most priced blessing of the Millennium’ - Mar Jose Kalluvelil
TORONTO: The Theology of the Body has evolved ‘the most prized possession of the Millennium’, were the words of Mar Jose Kalluvelil, Bishop of the Syro-Malabar Apostolic Exarchate, Canada while addressing the inaugural session of the two-day seminar on Theology of the Body for life for teachers, parents and youth held at Michael Power St Joseph’s High School, Toronto. He added that the Seminar would immensely benefit the budding young generation who are faced with very many questions on faith, morals, body, sex and sexuality, for which they struggle to find the right dispositions.
How could we help the upcoming generation in their quest to find answers as to ethical living and what constitutes moral standards?, how could we acquaint them of the challenges the Christian World is facing today?, how do we set right this distorted and erroneous image of our body and sexuality? were some of the topics that were picked up for open discussion, learning and practical discourse at this seminar. It was led by Mr.Babu John, the founder of “Theology of the Body for life†mission and a world-renowned resource on the subject.
The Theology of the Body is the teaching of Pope St. John Paul II which has propounded a new exposition on Love, Life, Sexuality and the very meaning of human existence. It is a contemporary vision for life, offering a “new lens†through which we can authentically see ourselves, our faith, our relationships and the world around us.
Bishop Jose expressed appreciation to Babu John for the initiative and commitment he has demonstrated in spreading the awareness of these teachings through TOBFORLIFE seminars and retreats across the globe and prayed that he be an inspiration to many in this regard.
‘That the Theology of the Body for Life ministry was a rejuvenation kindled by the power of the Holy Spirit to spread the message of Love, sexuality, relationships in the true light and in accordance with Catholic doctrine to the coming generations and a new wave of evangelization in vogue in the Church.’ were the words of Rev Fr. Sebastian Arikat, the vicar of Syro-Malabar Cathedral Church, Mississauga. Terming these Seminars as ‘relevant and the need of the hour’, Fr. Sebastian called for the formation of a team who would assist him in efforts towards the dissemination of the teachings of the Theology of the Body to the other missions and churches in Canada.
