HC to hear AAP plea to use EVMs with VVPAT
New Delhi, April 18: The AAP on Tuesday approached the Delhi High Court for using EVMs attached with Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines in the city's civic polls.
The Aam Aadmi Party mentioned the matter before the court, which agreed to hear it at 2.15 p.m.
The AAP, led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, sought directions to the Delhi Election Commission to conduct the April 23 civic polls with VVPAT-linked Electronic Voting Machines.
The VVPAT is connected with EVMs and dispenses a paper proof so that voters can verify that their vote was cast correctly.
The AAP and the Congress say that EVMs minus VVPAT can be tampered with.
