Nifty crosses 9,600 mark for first time
Mumbai, May 26: The wider 51-scrip NSE Nifty touched the 9,600-mark for the first time in history during the mid-afternoon trade session on Friday.
Around 3 p.m., the NSE Nifty traded at 9,600.05 points -- up 90.30 points or 0.95 per cent.
A strong rupee, along with surge in metal and automobile stocks helped the key index to touch an intra-day new high of 9,601.20 points.
The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the BSE too crossed the 31,000 mark for the first time to touch a new high of 31,066.83 points in intra-day.
