DMK not to attend GST launch in Parliament
Chennai, June 29: The DMK said on Thursday that it will not attend the special function in Parliament on Friday midnight to usher in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime.
"It is only a function to announce a new tax law. Such fanfare function was not held earlier when banks and insurance companies were nationalized and several other landmark bills were passed," DMK spokesman T.K.S. Elangovan told IANS.
He said the government was trying to gain publicity for implementing a new tax law. "Nobody knows how the GST is going to impact trade, business or the common man," Elangovan added.
