Brazil Serie A: Sport continue revival, Flamengo stumble
Rio de Janeiro, July 14: Brazilian football club Sport Recife scored three second-half goals to defeat Chapecoense 3-0, their fourth successive win in the Serie A championship.
Striker Andre netted twice on Thursday while Diego Souza was also on the scoresheet at Arena Pernambuco as Sport rose to fifth in the 20-team standings, reposts Xinhua news agency.
In Rio de Janeiro, Flamengo missed a chance to stay in touch with leaders Corinthians by falling 0-1 at home to Gremio.
Sao Paulo's disappointing season continued with a 2-2 home draw against Atletico Goianiense. In another match, Coritiba routed Avai 4-1 to move up to 10th in the standings.
