Kerala HC allows young couple to live together
Kochi, June 1
Refusing to act as a "super guardian", the Kerala High Court on Friday allowed an 18-year-old youth and a 19-year-old woman to live together.
The division bench's observation came after the father of the woman, hailing from Alappuzha, moved it for a writ of habeas corpus, demanding the woman be brought before the court.
Observing that there are so many people who choose to live together through mutual consent, the court said it cannot intervene as according to law of the land, anyone above the age of 18 can take their own decisions.
It also noted that once the youth is of marriageable age, the couple can wed.
