Students appearing for the exam were asked to remove their sacred threads and wristbands; police have registered a case.

Police have registered cases in connection with incidents where students wearing sacred threads and wristbands were allegedly obstructed from writing their exams. Two separate cases have been filed.

One case was registered in Shivamogga based on a complaint from the Brahmin community. At an exam center, authorities reportedly cut off a thread worn on a student's wrist citing security reasons. However, when the student refused to remove the sacred thread (poonool), they were not allowed to take the exam. A case has been filed against the officials in charge of the exam center in Shivamogga. The incident occurred during the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET).

A similar incident was reported in Bidar. In that case, the student was allowed to write the exam only after removing the sacred thread. The student has since approached the police and the education department with a complaint.
