CONGRESSMAN TOM SUOZZI RECEIVES ENTHUSIASTIC WELCOME AT 9TH GANESH UTSAV IN BELLEROSE

Suozzi was accompanied to the celebration by community leader Varinder Bhalla, who recalled a particularly memorable example of the Congressman’s longstanding connection with the Indian American community.

“Several years ago, Congressman Suozzi’s birthday happened to coincide with Ganesh Chaturthi,” Bhalla said. “Mr. Suozzi went to a Hindu temple in Flushing to participate in the festivities and then joined devotees in the Ganesh procession. It was a gesture of respect and friendship that many members of our community still remember.”

Gujarati Samaj President Paka Ji Patel praised Suozzi as a great friend of the Indian American community and urged attendees to support him in the November congressional election.

Maharashtra Mandal President Divyesh Tripathi and community leader Jay Shah echoed similar sentiments, highlighting Suozzi’s longstanding engagement with and support for the Indian American community.

Bhalla said Suozzi’s relationship with the community has been built over many years through his participation in Indian American cultural and religious celebrations and his continued engagement with community organizations and leaders.

Suozzi, Democratic Vice-Chair of the Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans, expressed the hope in his remarks that Lord Ganesh would remove all obstacles to peace and harmony so that people of all political affiliations could work together for the common good.

Congressman Suozzi represents New York’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes portions of Queens, Nassau County and Suffolk County.
