CAPASai Launches AI-Powered Video Analytics Platform to Help Retailers Combat Shoplifting
AI-powered platform analyzes existing CCTV footage to identify potential shoplifting, suspicious activity and other loss-prevention risks in real time
Stream Perfect Global Services (SPGS) has announced the launch of CAPASai, an artificial intelligence-powered video analytics platform designed to help retailers detect potential shoplifting and other loss-prevention risks in real time.
The platform works with existing CCTV systems, using AI to analyze live video feeds and identify predefined behaviors and activity patterns that may indicate a potential security or loss-prevention incident.
Among the behaviors CAPASai is designed to identify are unusual product handling, suspected concealment, access to restricted areas and other potentially suspicious activity. When a potential risk is detected, the system can issue a real-time alert supported by relevant video evidence.
The alerts are intended to help store employees and loss-prevention teams evaluate incidents more quickly and take appropriate action.
According to SPGS, CAPASai has demonstrated detection accuracy ranging from 87% to 96%, depending on the type of event being monitored and the operating environment. The company also says critical alerts can be reviewed through a human-in-the-loop process before being reported, adding an additional layer of validation.
Designed for Existing Retail Infrastructure
CAPASai is designed for retailers that want to introduce AI-based video analytics without replacing their existing CCTV infrastructure. The platform is intended for supermarkets, convenience stores, pharmacies, department stores, specialty retailers and multi-location retail chains.
For retailers with multiple locations, CAPASai can provide centralized monitoring and analytics, giving loss-prevention teams greater visibility across their operations.
The company says the platform is intended to move traditional CCTV beyond its conventional role as a recording and review tool by adding real-time analytics and proactive alerts.
“CAPASai is designed to transform conventional CCTV from a recording system into a proactive loss-prevention and operational intelligence platform,” said George Mathew, Director of Operations (US) for CAPASai.
As retailers continue to face challenges related to shoplifting, inventory loss and operational security, AI-powered video analytics are emerging as another tool for identifying potential incidents and helping staff respond more efficiently.
