Indian American John Isaac Seeks New York State Assembly Seat from Yonkers

Malayali-American candidate enters the race for Assembly District 90 as New York prepares for the November 3 midterm elections.

NEW YORK:
John Isaac, a Malayali-American community leader and financial services professional, is running for the New York State Assembly from District 90, which includes parts of Yonkers in Westchester County, in the November 3, 2026, general election.

Isaac is running as a Republican candidate against Democrat Frank Jereis in the race for the Assembly seat currently held by Nader Sayegh, who is not seeking reelection.

Originally from Kerala, India, Isaac immigrated to the United States at the age of 19 and has spent more than three decades working in the financial services industry. A longtime Yonkers resident, he has also been actively involved in Indian American community organizations, including serving as a former general secretary of FOKANA.

Isaac has identified affordability, tax relief, public safety, education, and economic development as key priorities of his campaign. He has also emphasized the need for adequate state funding for Yonkers schools, stronger support for small businesses, and expanded employment opportunities.

Having previously contested the same Assembly seat in 2024, Isaac is making another bid for elected office in 2026.

His candidacy also reflects the growing participation of Indian Americans, including members of the Malayali community, in local and state politics across the United States.
