When Poetry Became Prayer: Dr. Kumar Vishwas Captivates Chicago with “Apne Apne Ram”
An Evening of Devotion and Purpose: Kumar Vishwas Mesmerizes Chicago Audience A Sacred Night in Chicago: Kumar Vishwas, Samarthanam USA, and the Living Spirit of Ram
Chicago, IL:
On a crisp Friday evening, October 23, 2026 curtain rise and deep into the night, the Aura Club & Convention at 808 S Route 59 in Naperville, Illinois, became a sacred space of words, devotion, and purpose as Samarthanam USA presented the much-anticipated “Apne Apne Ram” with internationally renowned Hindi poet and orator Dr. Kumar Vishwas.

The hall was filled early. Families, professionals, elderly people, and young adults from across the Chicago metropolitan area arrived carrying the quiet excitement that only a live literary evening can create. This was not merely a performance. It was an evening where poetry became prayer, storytelling became remembrance, and the timeless values of the Ramayana found fresh voice in the heart of the Midwest. Samarthanam USA, dedicated to empowering people with disabilities, especially the visually impaired and uplifting underserved communities, turned the festive spirit of the season into an opportunity for lasting social impact through inclusive education, skill development, employment opportunities, rehabilitation services, and greater independence.

The program opened on a pure devotional note. The Samarthanam Sisters offered soulful musical performances that settled the audience into a reflective mood. Videos then traced Samarthanam journey to its inclusive education programs, scholarships, skill development initiatives, vocational training, employment opportunities, women’s empowerment efforts, healthcare and nutrition support, rehabilitation services, environmental sustainability work, and its pioneering promotion of sports such as blind cricket along with arts and cultural programs. The images of young people finding independence and dignity moved many in the room.

Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, Founder and Managing Trustee of Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled, took the stage and shared the organization’s humble beginnings, the challenges overcome, and the clear-eyed vision that continues to guide its work. His words carried the quiet authority of someone who has spent decades turning compassion into concrete opportunity. Shri Adarsh Shastri, Global Advisor and Patron of Samarthanam USA, welcomed the gathering with warmth, introduced board members and key supporters, and encouraged the community to open their hearts and resources. Samarthanam USA Midwest Chair, Vinesh Virani expressed deep gratitude to every donor and volunteer who made the evening possible. National Treasurer Ajeet Singh urged those present to become ambassadors of the mission spreading awareness and inviting others to join a cause that restores dignity and independence.

Gracefully guiding the flow of the evening were masters of ceremonies Prachi Jaitly and Neil Khot. Their seamless hosting connected the cultural, spiritual, and humanitarian threads so that the audience never lost the larger purpose. Behind the scenes and in the front rows stood a strong circle of organizers and well-wishers: promoter Gaurav Tuteja of Rajshi Events, Chicago Chair Dr. Sreenivas Reddy, and dedicated supporters including Anand Tiwari, Aria Patel, Chintan Patel, Deepali Saraogi, Ganesh Kar, Deepti Singh, Munish and Namita Kaistha, Nag Jaiswal, Rajeev Maheshwari Shah, Rakesh Malhotra, Uma Agarwal, Payal Shah, and Asian Media USA. Event main sponsors were Santosh Kumar, Dr. Umang Patel, and Brijesh Patel of Core provided the essential support that allowed the evening to shine.

Then the lights softened and Dr. Kumar Vishwas stepped forward. For more than two decades he has been one of the most distinctive and magnetic voices in contemporary Hindi poetry and public oratory. Known for his commanding stage presence, sharp wit, philosophical depth, and an uncanny ability to make classical stories feel urgently personal, Vishwas has carried Indian literary and spiritual traditions to audiences across India and the diaspora with a rare blend of humor, emotion, and insight. In “Apne Apne Ram” he offered not a single fixed image of Lord Ram but a living, many-sided exploration Ram as ideal, as struggle, as conscience, as the quiet force that chooses righteousness even when the path is hard.

Through storytelling, poetry, and reflective pauses, he walked the audience through the emotional and ethical landscape of the Ramayana. Humor flashed, then gave way to silence so deep that the hall seemed to hold its breath. Passages on duty, exile, compassion, and the victory of light over darkness landed with particular resonance. Many later said they felt as if their own memories of childhood stories and family prayers had been gently awakened. As the evening stretched toward midnight, the audience remained reluctant to let the experience end. Vishwas closed with a heartfelt appeal, linking the devotion of Ram with the practical compassion for serving those who need support most. The connection between spiritual insight and social responsibility felt natural and urgent.

The night was more than entertainment. It was a living demonstration that cultural celebration and humanitarian purpose can strengthen each other. Samarthanam USA’s wide-ranging work received renewed energy and visibility. Attendees left carrying both the echo of powerful poetry and a clearer sense of how they might contribute.
In the days that followed, conversations continued across community groups and social circles. People spoke of the Samarthanam Sisters’ music, of Dr. Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar’s steady vision, of Adarsh Shastri’s gracious welcome, of Vinesh Virani’s gratitude, of Ajeet Singh’s call to become ambassadors. Dr. Kumar Vishwas made ancient values feel immediate and alive. The Chicago stop of the tour already completed became a high point that set the tone for subsequent evenings in NJ East Rutherford, the Bay Area, and Dallas.

For one night in Naperville, poetry, devotion, and purposeful giving shared the same stage. The result was an evening that left the Indian American community of greater Chicago both moved and motivated an evening that proved once again that the deepest cultural experiences are those that also open the heart toward others.
Security was executed by Head of Security Syed Sabahat Jamal; he manages and executes the movements for many of the artist that perform in such large venues. He has managed many high-profile names for the past many years.

“When a poet of Dr. Kumar Vishwas’s stature places the story of Ram beside the quiet work of empowering persons with disabilities, something rare happens devotion becomes action and culture becomes care. Samarthanam USA continues to show that heritage is strongest when it lifts others. May evenings such as this one multiply, so that the light of literature and the light of service shine together” Mr. Suresh Bodiwala, Chairman and Founder of Asian Media USA.
