Nine Delhi firms' offices sealed over tax evasion
New Delhi, July 15 :Teams of the trade and taxes department of the Delhi government have sealed the premises of nine firms on charges of tax evasion, the government said on Wednesday.
A Delhi government statement said the department was taking further action of assessment, recovery and initiating criminal action against the firms.
A survey was carried out by enforcement teams of the department on July 14 at the premises of suspected dealers of mobile phones in Karol Bagh area.
The registers and cash memos of suspected transactions were seized, the statement said.
Nine firms were identified to be involved in tax evasion with a gross turnover of approximately Rs.235 crore.
It was estimated that tax liability on these firms was around Rs.12 crore, but they were paying negligible or zero tax to the government, the statement said.
