Beijing: An umbrella company in China's Jiangxi province has earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the world's largest umbrella, the media reported on Tuesday.
The previous record was held by India in 2010, with an umbrella measuring 17.06 metres in diameter and 10.97 metres in height, the Global Times reported.
The Chinese umbrella having around 23 metres diameter and 14.4 metres in height, was certified by the Chinese representatives of Guinness World Records on Monday in Xingzi county, sources said.
The umbrella, weighing 5.7 tonnes and standing in a plaza, covers a 418 sq.m. area.
