Delhi wholesale traders to sell onions in vans
New Delhi, Aug 27 : The Delhi government will facilitate wholesale traders of onions to sell the vegetable in 70 mobile vans in the capital on Friday.
This will be done to sell onions at wholesale rate in open markets where it is presently being sold at a high of Rs.80 per kg.
Of the 70 mobile vans, 34 will carry onions from Azadpur Mandi while others will start from various wholesale markets in the city.
"The government is bearing the cost of the van and manpower to help wholesale traders sell their stock in open market at 'Mandi' rates, so that there is no shortage of onions in the open market and this will also help in continuing the downward trend in onion prices," said a statement.
These vans will sell onions at rates decided by the Agriculture Produce Market Committee.
