Ten Indians chosen for Berlinale Talents
Berlin, Jan 15 Indian artistes including production designer Vandana Kataria, who has worked in films like "Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!" and "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!", will be part of the upcoming Berlinale Talents, the annual summit and networking platform of the Berlin International Film Festival for outstanding creatives from the fields of film and drama series.
To be held between February 13-18 here, it will be attended by Gitanjali Rao - a self taught animator, filmmaker and theatre artiste, director-editor Abhay Kumar, director Sange Dorjee Thongdok, who made National Award-winning film "Crossing Bridges", actress Niharika Singh, who has featured in films like "Sohra Bridge" and "Miss Lovely", editor Manas, screenwriter-director Pankaj Kumar, Kataria, cinematographer Rama, distributor Tanmayee Deo and composer Alokananda Dasgupta.
Berlinale Talents is an initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival. It was initiated in 2003.
For the 14th edition, Berlinale Talents is welcoming 300 emerging film and drama series professionals from 79 countries. The Talents take part in a six-day programme featuring over 100 events, with many open to the public, read a statement on the event's official website.
Berlinale jury president Meryl Streep has confirmed her attendance. The three-time Academy Award winner will be one of around 150 internationally renowned experts holding masterclasses and workshops.
In addition to the extensive summit programme of masterclasses and panel discussions with top-notch experts, Berlinale Talents offers a range of Project Labs that can further develop and present the filmmakers' own projects.
Berlinale Talents also provides Studio programmes and workshops for specific groups of film professionals. As an initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival, the entire event is closely linked with the programmes of the festival sections and the European Film Market.
