Kerala reduces bus fare
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 10 : The Kerala government on Wednesday decided to reduce the minimum bus fare on state-owned buses by Re 1.
"With this, the minimum bus fare in an ordinary bus of the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation would be Rs.6 and we have decided to talk to the private bus operators too to see that they also reduce it," Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters after the weekly cabinet meeting.
The state government's decision comes ahead of the state assembly polls due to be held in April/May.
While the KSRTC operates close to 6,200 buses every day, the private sector operates more than 30,000 buses in every nook and corner of the state.
