Olympic gold medallist Wiebe to participate in PWL-2
New Delhi, Nov 9: Rio Olympics gold medallist Erica Wiebe (75kg freestyle) of Canada on Wednesday confirmed her participation in the second edition of the Pro-Wrestling League (PWL), starting from December 15.
The 27-year-old grappler defeated Guzel Manyurova of Kazakhstan in the summit clash of the Rio Olympics to become only the third gold medallist for Canada in wrestling.
Wiebe reckons that the league will be an opportunity for her and other wrestlers to fine tune their skills.
"I am excited to be part of the auction for Pro Wrestling League season 2. I have heard so much about India and about the wrestling culture there. No wonder this tournament has become quite an attraction for all Olympic and World Champions around the world to come and participate, something unique that doesn't exist anywhere else in the world," Wiebe said.
