66 quintals of polythene bags seized in Agra
Agra, Aug 5: A team of Agra Municipal Corporation on Friday seized 66 quintals of banned polythene bags from a transport company warehouse here, officials said.
The officials said the consignments from Gujarat had come in two trucks to the warehouse in Freeganj area here. Of the lot, 34 quintals had been sold to local shopkeepers, and the remaining 66 quintals was about to be lifted.
Warehouse manager Nand Kishore was arrested.
Polythene bags under 20 microns are banned in Agra. Polythene bags are considered to be the chief pollutants that obstruct drains, choke sewers and eventually find way into the Yamuna river.
