Global Acclaim for Malayali Cardiologist: Prof. Dr. Aju Paul Pazhenkottil Honored with ‘Award of Honour’ in India

ZURICH / LUCKNOW — In recognition of his pioneering contributions to cardiac care and advanced cardiovascular imaging, Switzerland-based cardiologist Prof. Dr. Aju Paul Pazhenkottil has been conferred with the prestigious ‘Award of Honour’ by the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow.

The honor was presented on September 19 during the 37th Foundation Day celebrations organized by the institute's Department of Nuclear Medicine. The award citation commended Dr. Pazhenkottil’s trailblazing research and clinical contributions to cardiac imaging at University Hospital Zurich. Marking the occasion, Dr. Pazhenkottil delivered a keynote lecture titled "Beyond the Visible: Precision Cardiovascular Medicine through Imaging," which explored how emerging imaging modalities are transforming the diagnosis and targeted management of cardiovascular diseases.  

Clinical Mastery and Academic Leadership

Prof. Dr. Pazhenkottil serves as a Senior Physician and Professor at University Hospital Zurich. A globally recognized expert in non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostics, his work bridges high-precision multimodal imaging—including Cardiac Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), and Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT).  

Throughout his career, he has seamlessly integrated frontline clinical diagnosis, cutting-edge clinical trials, and academic mentorship, establishing himself as a prominent international authority in modern cardiology.  

Scientific Scrutiny and Philanthropy

Beyond his core clinical practice, Dr. Pazhenkottil holds a distinguished international role as a member of the International Medical Committee of Lourdes (CMIL) in France. In this capacity, he collaborates with an elite panel of global medical experts to rigorously investigate and evaluate claimed medical recoveries against the strictest benchmarks of contemporary medical science.

Dr. Pazhenkottil is equally committed to humanitarian efforts as a co-founder of ‘Daanam’, a charitable organization dedicated to community welfare.
